ADAC GT Masters
The ADAC GT Masters is a grand tourer-based auto racing series founded by the international Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) and supported by the German ADAC automotive club. Similar to an earlier ADAC GT Cup series in the 1990s, the new GT Masters ran their first season in 2007. Although the series is based in Germany, select events are run elsewhere in Europe. The series is a highly competitive battleground for the world’s best sportscar makers: Ferrari, Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, and Corvette.
The result is close racing between the brands that must sell against each other in the showrooms of the world. APP Racing Engines, Weesp Holland and Callaway Competition gmbh, Leingarten Germany, develop, construct and sell the Callaway Corvette Z06.R GT3 to private race teams, and are the source of all the Corvettes in the series. Each race weekend has two, one hour races Saturday and Sunday with a mandatory driver change mid-race, and no refueling. The podium finishers automatically carry 'success ballast' to the next race.
