This weekend marks the North American debut for the Callaway Competition built C7 GT3-R. Callaway veteran driver Daniel Keilwitz will enter his Number 26 Corvette under the guise of "Callaway Competition USA" which is run and operated by Callaway Cars Inc. While not a household name in the United States, Keilwitz has a wealth of GT knowledge which will greatly benefit this weekend’s event. Daniels resume includes 2 GT3 Championships with Callaway Competition in addition to a 2017 Blancpain Endurance Series title with Ferrari.

“I’m really excited to make my North American debut with Callaway," explains Keilwitz. "I've heard a lot of good things about racing in the U.S. and Pirelli World Challenge. It will also be a new experience for me to race a GT3 car alone. This allows me to set up the car exactly to my preferences."

Founded in 1990 by the Sports Car Club of America, the Pirelli World Challenge has provided a rich history in the GT category for North America. This weekend will mark another chapter with Callaway. “For several years fans have asked when they would see the Callaway Corvette GT3 run in the Pirelli World Challenge,” said Greg Gill, President and CEO of Pirelli World Challenge. “The wait is over and we are very pleased with the arrival of the Callaway Corvette GT3 for the 2018 season.”

Callaway Competition USA is based out of the company's California division of Callaway Carbon, and the team recently travelled to the Sebring International Raceway circuit, which is south of Saint Petersburg. The goal for this 1-day test, was to provide both a shakedown as well as surface knowledge for the teams C7 GT3-R. Due to the smooth characteristics of European circuits, valuable knowledge was gained to help adapt this car to the street circuit conditions they will experience this weekend.

"I like Sebring very much, because it’s not as boring as some tracks in Europe. It’s challenging in its own unique way. The Corvette C7 GT3-R ran very well, and we’re looking forward to St Petersburg. We should have a good car for the first race. Now it’s on me to learn the track." This weekends event will feature a selection of the worlds best manufactuers. This includes: Mercedes, Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Audi, and Lamborghini. The target for this weekends event will focus on top results, but without taking unecessary risks to achieve this.

The first on track action for the Callaway Competition USA C7 GT3-R will be Free Practise 1, Friday 9th of March at 9:50 local time. Live coverage for this event can be located at
