This weekend kicks off the 2nd half of the 2017 German based ADAC GT Masters for Callaway Competition. Now, the (privately entered) Leingarten squad is the "team to beat" after an impressive haul of points, which have placed them at the top of both Championship standings.

Round 5 sees another driver lineup change for Callaway Competition, with the addition of Spanish driver Albert Costa. Costa replaces the injured Daniel Keilwitz who remains on the fast road to recovery. "It feels great to join this team for the weekend," says Costa. "I was at Spa for the 24hrs when I received a message to drive for the team. This is a new event for me and I will do my best to keep Jules at the top of the points."

After a short break for the young Frenchman, Jules Gounon captured a remarkable achievement last weekend, by winning overall at the Spa 24 Hours in Belgium. "It’s been a crazy few weeks!" explains Jules. "In between these ADAC events, I won the Spa 24 Hours, which I still can't believe. However, my focus is now firmly back with our Corvette 'beast' ahead of this weekend. Since last year’s event, the car has improved massively. This will give me more confidence heading in to the weekend. The goal will be consistency & solid points."

Completing the lineup for Corvette Motorsport, is customer Callaway team RWT Racing. The team's misfortune has remained present after another mixed weekend in Zandvoort. However, the spirit of both the team and drivers continues its strength leading up to the event. "Although we have 20 kilos of additional weight to carry around with us, I am quite optimistic about the Nürburgring," says driver Sven Barth. "A big thank you to Callaway Competition for assisting us with the repairs (After Zandvoort). Our Corvette is very strong and thankfully suffered very minimal damage."

Track action gets underway Friday, with Both Saturday & Sundays events at 13:15 local time (0715 Eastern). Free live stream coverage is available at: www.adac-gt-masters.de/livestream-adac-gt-masters.html

Team Quotes:

Giovanni Ciccone/Ernst Woehr (Team Owners Callaway Competition):

"We appreciate Daniel very much, and the recovery of his leg is the top priority for us. We hope that Daniel will be completely fit again for the next event at the Sachsenring. Albert has made a good impression with us. He is fast and will immediately get settled in to the team. We are very pleased to welcome him to our team and look forward to working together."

Jules Gounon (Nr77 Valvoline/Roller C7 GT3-R):

"It’s been a crazy few weeks! Zandvoort was a perfect weekend, especially for Renger to win at home. I'm currently focusing on a race by race approach for the title. In between these events, I won one of the most famous Endurance GT events in the world at the Spa 24 Hours. We didn’t expect to win, but it’s an unbelievable result (guest driving for Audi). However, my focus is now firmly back with our Corvette ahead of this weekend. We have a new teammate this weekend with Albert, that I know will do a good job. Since last year’s event, the car has improved massively. This will give me more confidence heading in to the weekend. The goal will be consistency & solid points."

Albert Costa (Nr77 Valvoline/Roller C7 GT3-R):

"I was at Spa Francorchamps and I received a message with (Team owner) Giovanni. After 2 quick chats with him and one day later they said 'YES, you are IN.' Just looking at Giovanni how he speaks with such positivity, I already feel at home and confident for this new adventure! After his win in the 24h I have a big respect for Jules and for sure I will have a lot to learn from this fast kid! Only with 22 y/o he is a very mature driver with a lot of talent to show. This new event for me will be interesting to share the car and do my best to keep championship leader until the end. For me, it’s a new car, new team, and almost a new circuit because I've only driven the endurance configuration. However, I will be focused on doing a good job for both the team and for Jules."
