GT Open: V8 Racing 2014 announcement
The 2014 season is shaping up well for the Dutch Corvette team of V8 Racing. After a successful 5th place overall finish in the recent Dubai 24 Hours, the team is happy to confirm this week that they will continue their efforts once again in the International GT Open Championship. The squad will start their 3rd season with excellent momentum, after claiming 2nd in the Drivers Championship (with drivers Nicky Pastorelli and Miguel Ramos), as well as claiming the final win of 2013.
Again for 2014, the team will continue their technical working relationship with Pratt & Miller and their Customer Support Engineer Alex Roberge. This year, the team will campaign their GTE C6R for the second season, as well as both their seasoned ex-GT1 machine and their GT3 spec Corvette.
Leading the driver lineup assault will be Nicky Pastorelli, who will again be partnering up with Miguel Ramos to build upon their 2nd place success. New drivers joining the team for 2014 include Archie Hamilton (alongside driver Diederik Sijthoff), as well as Dennis Retera and Dylan Derdaele. This year will be Hamilton's second season of racing in the GT Open following a curtailed campaign in 2013. Archie will have his first test in the car on the 13th March in Italy, as part of a pre-season test programme.
Both Derdaele and Retera will take over the teams GT3 spec Corvette in the GTS class. “I am very happy to join the V8 Racing team in the International GT Open Championship and drive their Corvette GT3" explained Dederdaele. "This gives me the opportunity to race with some very experienced GT drivers and I am looking forward to this challenge."
The International GT Open season starts at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany on 3rd-4th May. The calendar contains eight events with two races per weekend with the finale taking place in Barcelona in October.
Rick Abresch (Team Owner): “I am happy and proud to announce that we once again have been able to have put together a great team of drivers for this year. I know what I can expect of our regular drivers Miquel Ramos, Diederick Sijthoff and Nicky Pastorelli. And with Archie Hamilton, Dylan Derdaele and Dennis Retera I am convinced that we are able to fight for even more podium finishes.”
Diederick Sijthoff: “I have learned a lot last year and now hope to see a lot better results. My The team has grown so much last year looking at all the results, that I am really looking forward getting back into the Corvette. With Archie Hamilton as my teammate it is going to be an exiting new season.”
Archie Hamilton: "Achieving this drive means a great deal to me. I really had a tough time last season after we had been developing the Porsche all year and then the fire ended my season. Nicky Pastorelli was in second place when I was leading that race and ever since we kept in contact. It’s just fantastic to be in the best team in the paddock. V8 Racing was always a team I wanted to drive for and to get the chance in the Corvette C6R in a series which I have been successful in is great. My team-mate Diederick Sijthoff has been very quick in the past seasons and I’m looking forward to working with him and my engineers to try and hit the ground running. I hope we can repay everyone's faith this year with some great results for the team.”
Nicky Pastorelli: “I am very happy to be able to compete again for another year with the V8 Racing team. We did very well last year and during the winter we worked hard to improve even further. I will enjoy sharing the car again with Miguel Ramos. We get on really well on and off the circuit and did some great racing together. We are also really happy to have Archie Hamilton in the team. I have been following him and have been in contact since last year. It is a plus for the team to have him with us. I am confident that he will have some good results and I'm confident he will be able to fight for the championship."
Dylan Derdaele: “I am very happy to join the V8 Racing team in the International GT Open Championship and drive their Corvette GT3. This gives me the opportunity to race with some very experienced GT drivers and I am looking forward to this challenge. After many years of driving in a Porsche, I can’t wait to get into the Corvette.”
Dennis Retera: "I am proud to say I am now a driver with the V8 Racing team. It is a serious and dedictated team and I look forward to race with my teammate Dylan Derdaele in the Corvette GT3. “
